Numerical flow models are used to address a variety of
problems. Here, one was developed to predict the impact of quarry dewatering on
local ground-water levels.
751 Ground-Water Flow Modeling
This advanced, graduate-level course introduces the
mathematics needed to construct finite-difference flow models and covers the
standard procedures for designing, executing, and analyzing deterministic
steady-state and transient flow models. Individual codes are constructed using EXCEL. The industry- standard U.S. Geological
Survey codes MODFLOW and MODPATH are used in a class project. Knowledge of FORTRAN is a prerequisite.
Stochastic modeling approaches are also described.
