This picture shows the character of the glacial outwash aquifer used by the City of Columbus for its municipal water supply. The City pumps between 25 to 40 million gallons per day from four radial-collector wells completed in these prolific deposits. The wellfield is located south of the City and receives a significant amount of water from leakage across the streambed of the Scioto River and Big Walnut Creek.
