CAREERS IN ECONOMIC GEOLOGY
Graduates with a Ph.D. are prepared for careers in academia;
and they and M.S. recipients find employment in federal and state
geological surveys, and in the metallic and non-metallic minerals
industries. Positions within the U.S., as well as in foreign venues
favor students with a solid background in mathematics and basic science,
plus fundamental training in mineral deposits. Today, as never before,
graduates with special skills are favored, and the application of GIS
technology in graduate research provides students a flexibility that
employers often find attractive.
