On behalf of the Dept. of Geosciences, University of Massachusetts,

I invite interested petrologists to visit our Web homepage where the

Electron Microprobe facility maintains a "Probe Image of the Week".

Each week (or thereabouts) we will post a new xray compositional map or set

of maps acquired in the course of any of several research programs.

Maps will be selected primarily for their petrologic interest, but you

may expect some 'eye candy' as well. Accompanying text will try to offer

something to a broad audience, and risks thereby errors both of omission

and of commission. Apologies in advance for such.



Future postings may include compositional traverses, quantitative

analyses, and links to the associated researcher. The address:
