ITEM #1

I am still trying to decide whether to get into the fray, following the

direction set by John Fournelle's email message, or simply bypass the

issue altogether, and simply state my very selfish inclination to go with

an SX50 Group made up strictly of SX50 owners/users, all aiming for the

same common 'good', coinciding also with the single's self interest. With

a group so defined, no need to worry about the intention behind the

advice/information given (at least I never did till now), and not too

likely a need to have to debate issues of market forces, our users'

interests versus Cameca's commercial ones, the obstacles on the

information highways, ....... But, of course, these issues are real, and

bound to come out, sooner or later.

'Bad" advice can be quickly detected and corrected, and I can't see it as

a real problem. If anything, it seems more easily controlled than the

good old 'rumors'.

I can understand Cameca's worries about independent service being also

available and that, at some point, their loss may also be ours. However I

also feel very uneasy restricting our membership for the stated or implied

purpose of helping Cameca to control competition.

I constantly find myself with little time available to do all that has

to be done, and resenting any time spent that doesn't bear fruits.

It is in that light that I tend to favor a tight, homogenous SX50 Group.

ITEM #2

I am definitely interested in a workshop, because I am sure there is a

good deal within the SX that I haven't fully discovered or utilized.

However, I am not sure what is implied by 'advanced', and two days seems

a rather short time, especially if the participants are many. I am told

that the early user meetings organized in Germany were one week long.
