I've not used it much. In Britain, some nationwide research
organization called CHEST evaluated several packages and picked Visilog.
It is supposed to be very powerful. I visited a skilled user in
Aberdeen, Scotland who is very happy with it. I think he had also used
NIH was preferred Visilog.
Why don't you sign up to the new Visilog list. It has had very little
information posted so far and you questions would be welcome. The
Noesis people who are near to the authors and currently developing
Visilog follow the list and seem to respond rapidly to problems.
As far as I know the list is manual.

You would have enjoyed it. I went in last year and was impressed.
Potatoes are very happy here except for a little fungus called
Phytophthora infestans of Irish famine fame. That's what my job is
about.
