Regarding REE analyses:

The proper conditions for REE analysis depend on whether you use L-lines or

M-lines. If L-lines are used, 15 KV is not high enough to get good HREE
excitation -- try using 20 or 25 KV. If M-lines are used, 10 KV is high
enough
for good excitation, but the current will have to be pretty high. Part of
the
problem is sample stability -- high KV can blow craters in some materials
(like
phosphates).
