Subject: chemical shift in x-ray spectra

Are there any electron microprobe specialists on this bulletin board
who have experience with chemical effects on x-ray spectra? I know
that a small amount of work has been done on Fe2+/3+ a long time ago,
and more recently work on chemical shift in very light elements (F
and below). Is there any more that anyone is aware of? I would also
like to learn something about the theory behind chemical shift of
peaks, etc. If anyone has a good reference (my definition of "good"
includes "understandable" for someone without a physics degree) I
would appreciate it. Please post your reply or send directly to
akracher@iastate.edu.
Thanks,
