Hi John,
Well, I guess its time to send our letter to CAMECA. 15 people from 11 labs have given their endorsements. I guess the others that I contacted are either uninterested or slow. The only recent change to the letter is that suggested by Ray G. (ie Mr. Conty instead of Claud). Let me know if you think we should proceed and I'll print a nice formatted version and get it in the mail.

Our instrument has had an unstable beam for over 3 months. We can't do unattended analyses because you have to manually record the beam current from the SX-Local window and apply a correction. The software only reports beam current to the nearest nanoamp! CAMECA service has been terrible (like usual) and I want to get a letter to Conty before I'm tempted to include a letter bomb!
