Geology Department Support Fund 302040
Provides the Director with discretion to fund small but urgent academic and research priorities as well as the ability to host important community building events within Earth Sciences.
Kresge Endowment Fund for Computer Visualization Laboratory in Geological Sciences 603820 Established in 1995 with a grant from the Kresge Foundation and gifts from the Shell Oil Company and alumni. Income is used solely for the purchase of new and replacement equipment for the Kresge-Shell Computer Laboratory in the School of Earth Sciences.
Friends of Orton Hall 642307 The Friends of Orton Hall gifts are distributed to students in support of degree research work. The Chairperson, on the recommendation of a faculty committee, authorizes distributions from this holding account to graduate and undergraduate students for assistance in thesis and dissertation expenses, travel expenses to meetings, etc.
Orton Museum Support Fund 308759 This fund is used to support the Orton Geological Museum. Gifts are used to purchase specimens, displays, and equipment for the museum.
The C. H. Summerson Endowment Fund 605519 Established in 1989 by Alumni of the School of Earth Sciences; income is used to purchase special items, rare books, back issues of journals, and other books, maps and materials for the Orton Memorial Library.
Edmund M. Spieker Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund 606869 Established in 1979 by gifts in honor of Edmund M. Spieker, former Chairperson and Professor of the Department of Geology; income is used to provide one or more scholarships in field geology.
