Steven Lower's research spans a range of disciplines including molecular science, biophysics, microbiology, and mineralogy.  Recent projects include infectious biofilms on medical implants, cytochrome-mediate electron transfer reactions, acidiphilic bacteria that oxidize sulfides, biomineralization of magnetic particles, and cancer caused by nanoscale minerals.  The work by his team has been published in Science and Nature, as well as journals like Journal of Bacteriology, Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Langmuir, Environmental Science & Technology, Geochimica, and American Mineralogist.  Our research is funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the Department of Energy
